The performance of a show depends greatly on the talent of the actors. Apart from how they act, the props and costumes also play a role to make the setting as realistic as possible. The same goes in ballet because aside from being a dance, it is a delicate art form.

Unlike movies and plays, the ballet performers tell the story with their movements and the costumes they wear. This may be composed of a black body suit, skirts, tops and leggings but during practice, they usually wear a leotard, tights and slippers. Guys may wear the same ballet attire with the addition of a pair of shorts.

Often times, the skirt is either flowing or exaggerated to signify her feminine qualities and create the illusion that she is flying. The rest of the attire should be flexible enough to deal with the stress of jumping and running.

If the weather is cold outside, leg warmers, dance sweaters and other dance garments may be used provided that to don’t hinder movement or obstruct a clear outline of the body because this makes it difficult for the instructor to spot mistakes in the technique and make the necessary corrections.

For those who have no idea what a Leotard is, this is the one piece body suit that is very similar to a bathing suit. You can buy one with or without sleeves that is being sold at the ballet studio or at specialty stores.

Footwear is also important in ballet. This will enable the dancer to stand literally on top of their toes. It will take some time before they will be able to break in those dancing shoes. Their toes will become extremely blistered and sore but after awhile, they will get used to it. To prevent injuries, you have to make sure that the shoes are made of good quality.

This should fit snugly but with room for the toes to lie flat. There must never be extra space at the end of the toes as with normal shoes. Drawstring ballet shoes should be cut to a reasonable length and then tucked into the shoe to prevent the dancer from tripping.

Wearing the right ballet attire is also important because this is the only way that the performer can master the poise and the graceful forms that are required in this art form. Parents who want their children to excel have to give them financial as well as emotional support while the instructor will take care of the rest. Together, this will lead to a growth of professionalism within your child.
